DOMINICK THOMPSON

We are THRILLED to welcome Dominick Thompson to Winnipeg VegFest 2023!

Many of you are already familiar with Dominick’s powerful and inspirational life story. Growing up without privilege, Dominick experienced a number of tragic events early in life. He witnessed extreme violence at a young age. He later became involved in drugs and was eventually incarcerated. It was in prison that Dominick had his political awakening, learning firsthand about the structural injustice of America’s prison system and larger society. It was also during this time that he became vegetarian. Upon his release, Dominick committed himself to his health, to athletic performance, and to social justice. He became vegan and deeply passionate about animal rights. He also became a multi-sport athlete, excelling in numerous triathlon competitions. He started his own nutrition and wellness program called Eat What Elephants Eat. And he has worked to raise awareness about social injustice in America, including food insecurity in marginalized communities, the corporate corruption of the food system, the appalling state of US healthcare, and the cruelties of America’s prison system, especially toward women and racial minorities. Dominick works every day to make the world a better place for animals and humans. His current book project is called, “Eat What Elephants Eat.”

And on Saturday, September 9, you’ll get the chance to meet Dominick and hear all about his story in person!
