ABOUT WINNIPEG VEGFEST

Winnipeg VegFest is the largest vegan and animal rights festival in Manitoba. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization. Our aim is to foster compassion for animals, promote eco-friendly living, educate the public about health and nutrition, and share the rapidly growing world of plant-based cuisine. Our largest event is the annual VegFest. In addition, we have created two new events, VegOut! and SugarRush!, to support local restaurants and our community, and to get the word out about how tasty vegan food can be. We also hold additional events throughout the year as fundraisers and for community outreach such as pop-up dinners, film screenings, and community potlucks.

SCOPE

We are seeking a Project Manager to join the Winnipeg VegFest team. This is a volunteer position with golden opportunities to gain invaluable experience, contacts, and skills that will make a huge difference on a résumé. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for keeping the team on track to meet our target goals and deadlines. The busiest times are in the lead-up to our larger events which happen in January, June and September. We are looking for someone who can have a consistent presence throughout the year.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate will be dedicated, flexible, and have a strong interest in obtaining significant non-profit experience, strategy, knowledge, and skills for organizing large public events. MS Office Suite experience is a must. A passion for animal and environmental justice and belief in the Winnipeg VegFest mission are also a must.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Taking minutes at committee meetings

• Ensure that minutes are posted in a timely manner after each meeting

• Prepare meeting agendas in consultation with the Chair

• Keep track of individual member tasks and responsibilities for each major project

• Follow up with individual members for updates and progress reports

• Keep track of VegFest documents archive

• Maintain records of committee membership

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent organizational skills for long-term project

• Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet competing deadlines

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Strong written communication skills for taking minutes

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Fluent in MS Office Suite

TIME COMMITMENTS

• Weekly meetings (usually on Thursdays at 7:00 pm)
